Get in touchSustainability continues to be a major focus across the packaging industry, and the demand for recycled content in packaging is only growing.
As regulations evolve and retailers set new expectations, brands are looking for packaging solutions that help them meet sustainability goals without compromising performance, food safety, or product quality. At IPL Schoeller, we’re committed to helping customers find practical solutions that support both their business and environmental objectives.
That’s why we’re excited to be part of a new packaging solution developed alongside PureCycle Technologies and Cleveland Kitchen. The new food-contact polypropylene container incorporates 25% post-consumer recycled (PCR) content while maintaining the quality and performance needed for food packaging applications.
Why Recycled Content Matters
As recycled-content requirements for packaging continue to emerge across North America, including states such as California and New Jersey, brands are seeking packaging solutions that help meet evolving regulatory requirements while maintaining product performance.
For many companies, incorporating recycled content into food packaging has been easier said than done. Food-contact applications require materials that meet strict safety and performance standards, making it important to find the right material and manufacturing partners.
Bringing Sustainable Solutions to Market
At IPL Schoeller, our goal is to develop packaging solutions that help brands increase recycled content without sacrificing performance. Working alongside PureCycle and Cleveland Kitchen, we brought to market a food-contact polypropylene container made with 25% recycled content that delivers the durability, functionality, and shelf appeal consumers expect.
The solution enables brands to reduce their reliance on virgin plastic, support corporate sustainability goals, and prepare for evolving recycled-content requirements, all while maintaining the quality standards necessary for food packaging.
By combining PureCycle’s dissolution recycling technology, IPL Schoeller’s packaging design, and manufacturing expertise, and Cleveland Kitchen’s commitment to sustainable innovation, this project demonstrates how collaboration across the value chain can bring scalable, market-ready packaging solutions to store shelves.
Looking Ahead
As sustainability requirements continue to evolve, we expect demand for recycled-content packaging to keep growing across food, personal care, household, and other consumer product markets.
At IPL Schoeller, we’re focused on helping customers stay ahead of these changes by developing packaging solutions that support circularity while delivering the performance brands depend on.
This launch is an exciting step forward, and we’re looking forward to continuing to explore new ways to incorporate recycled materials into our packaging portfolio and help our customers achieve their sustainability goals.
